Jelly Roll has allegedly closed his famous Good Night Nashville bar following the controversy surrounding his recent remarks, with the business reportedly struggling to attract customers even before the singer became embroiled in the latest backlash.
The restaurant had once been a popular destination for Nashville visitors and country music fans, but according to branch manager Alex Bruno, business had already started slowing down at the beginning of the year. The situation allegedly became even worse after Jelly Roll’s controversial comments and what critics have described as his move into the “woke” era.
“At the start of 2026, we were popular and used to be packed for whole months,” said Alex Bruno, the branch manager. “People were coming in regularly, and we honestly thought the business was going to have a very strong year.”
Bruno said the restaurant’s situation changed dramatically as the controversy surrounding Jelly Roll continued to grow.
“The recent controversy has affected us very much, and due to having no customers, we had to close the restaurant and may have to move to another state,” Bruno added.
According to the account, the restaurant began seeing noticeably fewer customers as Jelly Roll’s political comments generated increasing discussion among country music fans. Some customers allegedly began avoiding the establishment because of their disagreement with the singer’s recent statements.
What had once been promoted as a Nashville destination connected to Jelly Roll’s brand was suddenly facing a much different atmosphere.
Bruno said the decline was particularly frustrating because the restaurant had already been struggling to maintain the level of business it experienced when it first became popular.
“We knew things weren’t perfect before the controversy,” Bruno said. “But once everything started happening, it became much harder to bring people through the doors. We went from trying to figure out how to grow the business to figuring out how to keep the doors open.”
The alleged closure adds another chapter to the growing controversy surrounding Jelly Roll. The singer has faced criticism from some country music fans after making jokes about President Donald Trump during his guest-hosting appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! He later explained that his political views are not entirely aligned with one side, describing himself as being somewhere around the middle.
That explanation, however, has done little to stop the backlash from critics who believe Jelly Roll has moved too far away from the audience that helped establish his career.
For a business closely associated with an artist’s public image, such controversy can create additional challenges. Restaurants depend heavily on repeat customers, local support and visitors looking for a particular experience, making them vulnerable when the brand attached to the business becomes controversial.
Bruno suggested that the restaurant’s future remains uncertain.
“We don’t know what happens next,” he said. “Right now, we’re looking at every option we have, including potentially moving to another state.”
The closure, if confirmed, would represent another consequence of Jelly Roll’s increasingly controversial public image.
