Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, took to Twitter to make the announcement that consumers may now pay for products sold by the firm using the cryptocurrency dogecoin. In the not too distant future, SpaceX, a space manufacturing company that is led by Musk, will also make it possible to pay for merchandise using dog money.
The most prominent manufacturer of electric vehicles recently made an announcement that beginning in the month of January, consumers will be able to use the popular cryptocurrency to pay for a selection of products sold by the company. On the other hand, it would seem that the top meme currency will be able to be used to purchase each and every good.
After the news broke, the price of dogecoin shot up by 15.8 percent almost immediately, although it has since given back some of those gains. On the Binance market, the Bitcoin parody reached an all-time high of $0.09 after falling to as low as $0.076 earlier today. Within the last 24 hours, Musk has tweeted not once, but twice about his preferred cryptocurrency. Yesterday, his tweet was the only thing that succeeded in driving the price of DOGE up, and it did so for just 26 seconds before it gave up all of its gains.
Musk, who is still the wealthiest person in the world, is helping to keep Dogecoin alive despite the fact that the price performance of Dogecoin in 2022 has been dismal. In March, the CEO of Tesla said unequivocally that he had not parted ways with the meme currency.
The fact that the internet billionaire is close to closing the deal on the acquisition of Twitter is seen as a positive development for dogecoin. According to a report published by SpaceXMania, Musk proposed including DOGE (also known as the meme currency) as a payment option on the popular social media platform. This would let users pay for premium memberships using DOGE.
