Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is notorious for igniting controversy with his tweets, stirred yet another uproar today with a statement in which he discussed death under “strange circumstances.” “Even if I die in unexplained circumstances, it’s been a pleasure getting to know you,” Mr. Musk said on Twitter, less than a week after announcing his plan to purchase micro-blogging site Twitter for $44 billion.
Mr. Musk had previously published a message that seemed to be a correspondence in which he said that he was engaged in “supplying the fascist forces in Ukraine with military communication equipment.” Elon will be held responsible for his actions, the statement continues, “no matter how many times you pretend to be a fool to get away with it.”
A further assertion was made in the email that the equipment had been given to Ukraine by the Pentagon, the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. The two postings aroused debate about whether Tesla CEO Elon Musk is under threat from Russia as a result of his assistance to Ukraine during the conflict.
It was only when a minister from the war-torn nation reached out that Mr. Musk’s business SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service was made available in Ukraine. Following the tweet about a mysterious death, a wide range of replies was received, ranging from jokes to caution to expressions of support.
Some people wondered whether Mr. Musk was inebriated, while others came to the conclusion that it was the high taxes that were upsetting him. Others said that he needed to live in order to bring about “change.”
The past few months have seen Mr. Musk consistently make headlines, first for his criticism of Twitter’s shrinking space for free expression, then for his decision to withdraw from the company’s board at the last minute, and finally for his announcement of the company’s decision to purchase the company for an undisclosed sum. Immediately after the announcement, he hinted at some bold ideas for the micro-blogging service, including the possibility of charging a charge for business and government users.
