Blake Shelton is stepping forward to support Ed Sheeran, announcing plans for eight concerts across the country and promising to donate most of the money raised from the shows to organizations helping homeless veterans.
The announcement comes as Sheeran continues dealing with controversy surrounding his U.S. tour and his decision to keep politics out of his musical performances. Several musicians have walked away from upcoming shows, leaving Sheeran facing an increasingly complicated touring schedule.
Shelton said he understood exactly what Sheeran was going through and wanted to make sure the singer knew he wasn’t facing the situation alone.
“What they did to Ed is horrible,” Blake said. “As a singer, I totally understand what Ed is going through, and I’ve got his back. He’s got nothing to worry about.”
According to Shelton, the eight concerts will bring the two musicians together for a series of performances across the country. The shows will feature performances from both artists, with Shelton saying the goal is not only to put on great concerts but also to help people in need.
“The woke mind virus of the left tried to cancel him, but they don’t know that fellow artists like me have Ed’s back,” Shelton added.
Shelton said he doesn’t believe Sheeran should have to change the way he performs simply because some people disagree with his approach.
“Ed is an entertainer,” Shelton said. “He wants to get on stage, sing his songs and give people a great night. I understand that completely. You don’t have to turn every concert into a political argument.”
The country star also revealed that a significant portion of the money generated by the concerts will be donated to organizations that support homeless veterans.
“We will donate most of the money earned from these tours to organizations helping homeless veterans,” Shelton said. “If we’re going to get together and put on eight shows, we might as well use them to do something good.”
Shelton said veterans were an obvious choice for the charitable effort because many former service members face difficult circumstances after leaving the military.
“There are people who have served this country and are struggling to find a place to sleep,” he said. “If we can use our music to help them, then that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
Sheeran thanked Shelton for the offer and said the support from fellow musicians had become one of the most meaningful parts of the difficult period surrounding his tour.
“It means a tremendous amount to me,” Sheeran said. “Blake is an incredible artist, and knowing that he wants to stand beside me and also help veterans makes this even more special.”
The eight concerts are expected to draw fans from across the country, with Shelton and Sheeran bringing their very different musical styles together on the same stage.
For Shelton, however, the concerts are about more than ticket sales or headlines.
“We’re going to play music, have fun and help some people along the way,” he said. “That’s a pretty good reason to get on a stage.”
With Shelton now promising eight shows and a major charitable contribution, Sheeran’s latest tour chapter is taking an unexpected turn—and turning a difficult moment into an opportunity to give back.
