On Friday, Gwynne Shotwell, President and Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX, defended SpaceX CEO Elon Musk against claims of sexual misconduct. According to a recent article published by Business Insider, a flight attendant who worked as a contractor for SpaceX’s corporate jet fleet accused Elon Musk of exposing himself to her several years ago, touching her, and offering to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage.
She also accused Musk of offering to buy her a horse in exchange for an erotic massage. Shotwell denies the claims, as stated in an internal email that was acquired by CNBC and circulated around the firm. “I think the claims are untrue,” Shotwell wrote, “not because I work for Elon, but because I have worked closely with him for 20 years and have never seen or heard anything matching these allegations.”
The charges of improper behavior surfaced not long after Musk issued a warning on Twitter, predicting that “political assaults on me would rise drastically in coming months” as a direct result of his purchase of Twitter. “Watch as their smear campaign against me unfolds with their nasty techniques,” Musk continued. The flight attendant related to her friend that Musk, the richest man in the world, had asked her to come to his room during the flight “for a full body massage,” and that when she arrived, he was naked.
Musk is the founder and CEO of Tesla, which is currently the most valuable public company in the world. It has been stated that the flight attendant did not participate in any sexual actions, and she asserts that following the alleged occurrence, her job started to decrease. The flight attendant confided in her friend that she had the impression that she was being “pushed out and punished for refusing to sell herself.” Musk has recently disclosed that he would start supporting Republican candidates beginning with the next election season.
Musk, who is registered as an independent voter, stated his voting history during a technology conference in Florida. He added, “Historically, I have voted largely for Democrats.” To be clear, while I can’t say for certain, it’s possible that I’ve never cast a ballot for a Republican. Now I will do it throughout this election.”
A few weeks previously, Musk had published a meme that outlined his tilt to the right in terms of ideology. The meme’s timeline for 2012 depicts a “fellow liberal” on the Left moving toward the extreme far-Left, leaving another stick figure drawing labeled “me” moved in the middle of the image. In the year 2021, a “woke progressive” has moved all the way to the far left and is now referring to the stick figure that is labeled “me” as a “bigot.” Musk continues to occupy the same position inside the meme, despite the fact that he is now believed to be on the Right.
As a direct reaction to Musk’s about-face on ideological matters, the Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, extended an invitation to the multibillionaire to relocate Twitter’s headquarters to Miami.
During an interview with Fox News, Suarez made the following statement: “So the pitch is that you want to go to the city with the lowest taxes, lowest crime rate, and highest quality of life that encourages achievement.” “We feel that the American ideal is one in which individuals can achieve whatever it is that they want to do and be successful. This is the kind of country that we come from.” That is not something you should be embarrassed by, and it is not something you should try to avoid or hide from in any way.
As a result, I believe it is one of the factors that has contributed to Miami’s status as a city with a distinct identity. Advocates for individuals’ rights to freely express themselves expressed joy at Musk’s $44 billion agreement with Twitter. Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, said that he wants to take Twitter, where he has over 90 million followers, private so that he could guarantee that it continues to function as a venue for free expression for everyone.
