Neil deGrasse Tyson says James Webb telescope photos are ‘one of the epic moments’ in human history

One eminent astronomer said that your level of amazement was probably understated if you glanced at the photographs from the James Webb Space Telescope that were revealed this week. The picture published this week by the White House is more than remarkable, according to Neil deGrasse Tyson, who said in an interview with WTOP that the first thing to grasp is that this telescope is similar to a time machine.

What it demonstrates is a field of galaxies, some of which date all the way back to almost the beginning of time, according to Tyson. He said that this telescope provided the most detailed infrared view of the cosmos ever, opening the door to the potential of discovering other inhabited planets and getting a glimpse of the early universe. He said that the finding may contribute to our understanding of the origins of the cosmos.

So, are we fortunate enough to be here to experience one of those once-in-a-lifetime events when we get to be witnesses to something that is beyond amazing? According to Tyson, yes.

Because these data are so much superior to those provided by any other telescope, he told WTOP, “We will only recall data, back to this point in the cosmos.

In a press statement announcing the first images, NASA said that the James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s leading observatory for space research. In addition to looking beyond our solar system to distant planets orbiting other stars, Webb will delve into the enigmatic architecture and origins of the cosmos and our role within it.
