According to slides from a corporate presentation that Twitter owner Elon Musk released, the social network is recruiting after making significant employee cuts as part of a cost-cutting campaign ever since the billionaire gained control of it.
“We’re recruiting” was the only information on the opening slide. Musk undertook a drastic restructuring that first cut the company’s staff in half, but he didn’t mention it when he delivered the address.
Presentations that used data from the middle of November showed that the number of fake accounts and hate speech impressions on the social media network was going down.
Aiming to build an “everything app” dubbed X, Musk, who also owns the rocket business SpaceX, brain-chip startup Neuralink, and tunneling company the Boring Company, has said that purchasing Twitter would further this goal.
According to the tweet, “Twitter 2.0: The Everything App” would have functions including encrypted direct messaging (DMs), long-form tweets, and payments.
Musk said in a subsequent tweet sent out early on Sunday that he believes Twitter will surpass one billion monthly active users in 12 to 18 months.
As he battles a large migration of advertisers and users to other platforms due to worries about verification and hate speech, Musk claims that new user signups to the social media network are at an “all-time high.”
According to a tweet from Elon Musk late on Saturday, there were 66 percent more signups than there were during the same week in 2021, averaging over two million each day over the previous seven days as of November 16.
As of November 15, the average number of active minutes per day for users was close to 8 billion, which is 30% more than the same time last year.
As of November 13th, impersonations of hateful speakers have dropped as compared to the same time last year. Prior to and after the debut of Twitter Blue, there was an increase in reported impersonations on the network earlier this month.
Musk said that the Twitter sponsor retreat was causing a significant reduction in income. He blamed a coalition of human rights organizations for pressuring the platform’s major advertisers to take legal action if he did not defend content moderation.
The Everything App
Additionally, the 51-year-old’s presentations included some information concerning “The Everything App.” Musk intends to develop Twitter 2.0, “The Everything App,” which will include payments, streaming video, long-form tweets, encrypted direct messages, a relaunch of Blue Verified, and advertising as entertainment.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and the richest person in the world, bought Twitter at the end of last month, months after he first made an offer to buy the social media company in April.
Recently, the head of Twitter even revealed his plans to produce cellphones in the event that Apple and Google decide to ban Twitter from their app stores.
The billionaire replied to a tweet that suggested the co-founders of Tesla and SpaceX make cellphones in case the social networking platform was taken off of Apple’s and Google’s app stores.
