These 9 famous celebrities quit Twitter because of Elon Musk

Nine well-known people have quit Twitter due to Elon Musk.

The $44 billion purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk has been a contentious issue, particularly for those celebrities who don’t want anything to do with the Tesla CEO.

Elon promised to make significant changes to the website when the acquisition became public, including lowering limitations on free expression and implementing a paid verification system. Elon has also let go roughly half of the platform’s current staff.

Some famous people have had enough and determined that leaving the website is in their best interests. Some believe they will return as the dust settles, while others assert they have left permanently.

What these famous people have to say about Twitter

Shonda Rhimes

Following Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, Shonda Rhimes wasted no time in withdrawing. Shonda said through Twitter that she wouldn’t be staying on 48 hours after Elon assumed control. Although she hasn’t posted anything since October 29, her account is still open.

“Not waiting around to see what Elon has in store. Bye, “Shonda maintained a blog.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid canceled her account soon after it was revealed that Elon would lead Twitter. She then changed to Instagram, where she apologized to her followers, with whom she had previously liked chatting.

“It has been a sewer of hatred and prejudice for a long time, but particularly under its current leadership. I don’t want to be a part of it. I can’t claim Twitter is a safe place for anybody or a social network that will bring more good than damage, and I’m sorry to the fans I’ve enjoyed communicating with on it for more than ten years “Gigi wrote.

Sara Bareilles

On October 29, the musician Sara Bareilles made public her departure from Twitter. She hasn’t deactivated her account yet, but she hasn’t been active on the website since she sent her farewell note.

“Welp. Twitter has been enjoyable. I’m out. People, I’ll see you on other platforms. Sorry, but I’m simply not into this one “She composed.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg said on “The View” a week after Elon’s takeover that she would be leaving Twitter for the time being. Whoopi said that the platform was now in “a shambles” and that she would be departing until problems were resolved. Her account is now inactive.

“I’m taking today off because I simply think everything is so disorganized. I’m sick of having certain mindsets suppressed and then having them come back. I’m going to go, and if things calm down and I feel more at ease, I may come back “On the program, Whoopi remarked.

Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil said in April that she would quit Twitter as soon as Elon acquired it. Following her departure, she would “finally” cease “becoming a nuisance to society,” she humorously informed her fans. Since October 27, she hasn’t posted on the site, thus it seems that she kept her promise.

Mick Foley

On October 28, former wrestler and actor Mick Foley made the decision to stop using Twitter. Mick wrote on Facebook that he could no longer tolerate the platform’s new management because of the proliferation of fake news and hate speech.

“Because of the new ownership and the disinformation and hatred it appears to be fostering, I made the decision that I needed a sabbatical from Twitter.

I really love communicating with every one of you online, but sometimes it may be too much. Though I plan to return in a few weeks, I’ll still post on Facebook and Instagram throughout that time.

I hope that everyone will treat one another with respect. Vote if you can since it looks like our democracy is hanging on by a thread “Mick composed.

Téa Leoni

After experiencing “too much hostility,” “Madam Secretary” star Téa Leoni decided to take a break from Twitter while it was still owned by Elon. Since then, her account has been shut down.

“Let’s check in after I leave Twitter today to see where we are. Today’s dust exposed too much hatred and too much negativity “Before deleting her account, she wrote.

Marina Sirtis

British actress Marina Sirtis, well known for her appearance in “Star Trek,” said on Twitter on October 28 that she was quitting the platform because she could no longer stand Elon Musk.

“Sorry, but I’m unable to participate in anything run by #ELONMUSK and his gang of despicable. After a brief visit of a few days during which we may say our goodbyes, I will be leaving “The rumor mill claims she tweeted once before deleting her account.

Toni Braxton

Toni Braxton, a musician, announced her departure from Twitter on October 28. She added that she didn’t feel like it was a safe area since she had seen too many abusive remarks masquerading as “free expression” after Elon’s takeover. Since sending out that statement, she has not tweeted.

“Since this platform was acquired, I’ve witnessed some “free speech” that has startled and sickened me. Hate speech disguised as “free expression” is intolerable, thus I’ve decided to avoid Twitter since it’s no longer a secure environment for me, my boys, and other POC, “Toni wrote.
