Did Elon Musk just buy Google?


After turning 51, Musk expanded his corporate empire by acquiring Twitter, completing the $44 billion acquisition of the social media giant.

However, since the purchase, individuals from all around the globe have pushed the creator of SpaceX to buy additional significant media and tech firms.

For example, during the past weekend, there was a considerable spread of a rumor that Elon Musk had purchased Google. Yet did Musk purchase Google? What happened leading up to the accusation and how did people respond on social media?

Despite a popular YouTube video claiming otherwise, Elon Musk hasn’t really purchased the tech behemoth.

Elon Musk Zone is a channel with 914k subscribers that posts “cinematic” films based on Musk’s public appearances and speeches to “give viewers a more immersive experience.” This video is an example of such a presentation.

A remarkable 400k people have seen the video, which says that Musk enjoys having his fingers in many different industries and that “Google is the next game-changer” for him. The video clip also claims that followers of Musk “seem to know his huge next move” in the tech sector.

But despite the fact that the video is titled “Elon Musk: I Officially Bought Google,” it really emphasizes the idea that Musk possesses the resources and the potential to take control of a technological behemoth such as Google.

Additionally, misleading viewers on social media, the video’s main image is a manipulated image of Musk shaking hands with Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google.

This myth first surfaced in December 2022 when identical allegations were made on another parody YouTube channel.

Tweets in response to rumors

Musk didn’t really purchase Google in January 2023, but the promises made in the popular movie deceived many social media users across the world.

One person commented, “Hey @elonmusk, there’s a rumor you acquired Google. Is anybody else of the opinion that Elon Musk has acquired Google? It’s fake, a third user retorted.

Another person commented: “The same channel reported he purchased Facebook. According to the same station, he appointed MrBeast as CEO. I originally believed it to be a reliable source of news on Musk. Not so much anymore.

In 2021, Google won the STARLINK contract

Although Musk has not purchased Google, the SpaceX creator and the tech giant have partnered to improve communication services through Starlink.

Google’s Cloud division stated in May 2021 that it will provide Starlink’s satellites and networking services to SpaceX.

According to the article, SpaceX intends to construct ground stations at Google data centers in order to connect to Starlink satellites and give a more rapid internet connection.
